Real Estate: More than meets the eye
“Landlords grow rich in their sleep.”
- John Stuart Mill
The wise young men or-debonair ladies of today invest their money in real estate, and its seeping very fast into our own humble culture. It was foreseen and still going strong as real estate till date remains a tried and successful way of pumping your cash flow and achieving financial freedom.
Real Estate provides
career opportunities which Bhutanese youth are in dire need of; it is
the
closest thing to a proverbial Norbu (wish- granting jewel) as seen by western
cultures. It is also obvious as many owe their financial success to real
estate, with current US president Donald Trump being a real estate tycoon
himself. He is so successful in the art that he claims he built all his assets
through effort and a loan from his father. He expensed his own money instead of
presidential campaigning funds, gee, what a wiz!
Despite the support from government bodies (such as NPPF playing the largest role in Real Estate development in the country), people still lack awareness and fear venturing into it and leave everything to brokers and agents not knowing that there is a real estate owner and investor in each and every one of us. We need a hub or an online portal, to educate and create awareness for we definitely can’t teach this at school!
Joggers every morning in the chilly Capital face a scene of sprouting buildings and millennials will always remember Olakha and Babesa areas as busy residential and
commercial clusters, when in reality it was an empire of paddy fields and arings1 just over a decade ago.
Isn’t it thought provoking? That even with the abundance and variety of homes, people still
struggle to find a place to stay, let alone their ideal abode of choice. This large gap, between the homeowners and home finders is a stifling thought in Bhutan.
Our own neighbour India, companies such as MagicBricks, 99acres, and Commonfloor are ever competing to give the best services on the issue, while we are compromising with asking around and relying on Facebook groups where we can’t really find anything we’re
looking for.
The internet revolution is transformational, and we must hook on to it to go where the world is going. A more need attentive and more convenient way must be innovated to close the gap.
Start-ups such as Housing.bt break the status quo because they do just that. The ease to connect with your favorite homes in your favorite locations but they don’t stop there, they’re looking to provide amazing conveniences such as shifting services- which can be a boon especially if you’re a single miss who’s new in the locality. It’s all done online, so you
can sell/rent a house without the cost of even a phone call! That’s the
revolution we need and an app is sure to follow. Call us @ 17730001 or follow
